SUMMER LABOR EMPLOYMENT
General Description
The Jackson County Highway Department is accepting applications for a seasonal temporary employee. The Employee will assist with all aspects of roadway maintenance. This may include driving passenger vehicles and/or tractors. Work may include: roadway patching, using hand tools, mowing, etc. The rate of pay shall be $17.00 per hour and will generally consist of 40 hours per week. The successful hire will work 6:30am to 3:00pm (1/2 hour lunch) Monday through Friday. This is an outside position that will include working in the heat and sun. Many days you may not be near a place to eat lunch, so packed lunches are required. This is a physical position that will include bending, stooping, carrying, etc. Appropriate clothing and footwear (steel toe boots) are required for this position. Safety vests/shirts, eye protection, hearing protection, etc. will be provided. Applications are available on the Jackson County website under the Highway Department Employment Opportunities.
