Employees of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office must reside withing the borders of Jackson County.

Physical Testing dates are as follows:

  • December 17, 2022
  • April 22, 2023
  • August 26, 2023
  • December 16, 2023

Applications must be submitted 30 days prior to the physical test date for each testing cycle.

If you submit an application after the submission deadline for a test cycle you will be placed into the next test cycle.

Physical Testing dates are subject to change as required by the testing facilities' scheduling requirements.

Applicants who have submitted an application within a test cycle will be notified of any physical testing date changes to that test cycle.

You will be contacted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office after the application submission deadline for the test cycle with a written testing date, login information, and follow-up instructions regarding test status.

Completion of a written test is required for eligibility for employment in the following career(s):

  • Telecommunications

Completion of the physical Power Test (PDF) and written test are required for eligibility for employment in the following careers:

  • Deputy Sheriff - Patrol Division
    • Successfully completing the physical Power Test will qualify you for eligibility for employment as a Deputy Sheriff - Jail Division or Deputy Sheriff - Court House Division.
    • If you fail to successfully complete the physical Power Test you may choose to attempt the IDOC Physical Agility Test to gain eligibility for employment as a Deputy Sheriff - Jail Division or Deputy Sheriff - Court House Division.

Completion of the IDOC Physical Agility Test (PDF) and written test are required for eligibility for employment in the following careers:

  • Deputy Sheriff - Jail Division
  • Deputy Sheriff - Court House Division
    • Successfully completing the  IDOC Physical Agility Test does not qualify you for eligibility for employment as a Deputy Sheriff- Patrol Division.
