THE 2019 ASSESSMENT APPEAL PERIOD IS NOW OPEN. DEADLINE FOR FILING AN ASSESSMENT APPEAL IS DECEMBER 6, 2019. ALL APPEALS MUST BE SUBMITTED IN PERSON OR BY MAIL WITH A POSTMARK DATE OF DECEMBER 6, 2019. APPEALS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED BY EMAIL OR FAX. ALL EVIDENCE MUST BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF FILING. APPEALS WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTED FOR 2019 PAYABLE 2020.
THE DEADLINE FOR REQUESTING A CERTIFICATE OF ERROR IS NOVEMBER 25, 2019.
The Jackson County Board of Review in now in session for the 2019 year. Meeting dates and times will be posted on this website on the Agendas and Minutes page. Jackson County Board of Review is made of three County Board appointed members. Each member serves a 2 year term. Terms are staggered with two members being appointed in one year and the other member being appointed the next. Questions about when the current terms expire can be obtained in the County Board office. The function of the Board of Review is to hear cases presented by the tax payer when he/she feels that the current assessment is incorrect. Current assessments can be found here. A list of the Board of Reviews rules can be found here. Appeals can be filed in person, mail, or delivery services to either 1607 Walnut St Murphysboro, Il. 62966. Appeals will not be accepted via fax or email. The time for appealing is when the Supervisor of Assessments publishes the township in which the property in question is located. Those publications can be found in the Southern Illinoisan. At that time the taxpayer will have 30 days from the publication date to file an appeal with the Board of Review.
