June 26, 2019 Minutes

  • A motion was made by Hartleb, seconded by Martin, to approve the June 26, 2019 minutes as presented. The motion carried by unanimous vote.

Communications

There is a new secretary at the Soil & Water Conservation, she should be added to the contact list.  Also, Greater Egypt is looking into grants to study sewage in Kinkaid Lake.

Meeting Date/Time

The last Wednesday of the month at 430pm seems to be working for everyone.  The Board then listed some upcoming events that could be placed on the website.

  • Aug. 21 to Labor Day the State Fair "Visit Conservation World"
  • Sept. 28 &29 Hunting & Fishing Days at John A. Logan Community College
  • Fee Free Day at Crab Orchard
  • Sept. 18-21 BBQ Fest at 17th Street in Murphysboro
  • October the Jacob Deer Rut starts
  • Duck Boo-yah
  • Bluegrass Festival in Raddle

Lobbying Efforts

The Board is going to consider how to advertise Jackson County at the next Grand American Shooting in Sparta.  Also, they discussed consentrating effforts on Burning Star and working with SIU Economic Development to do some long range planning.  The would like a Burning Star representative to come to the September meeting if possible.

Long Range Planning

The Board discussed tying in food, motels, airport to trap shooting contests, creating brochures, and having social media.
