Action Comments:Peterson gave a report on the recent Cannabis Conference she attended in Springfield. Peterson began by noting that Kelley Murray did an excellent job of putting the event together. Peterson went on to review the information she provided to the committee. She suggested that the County do an ordinance related to the growth of cannabis in the County. She went on to say that she thinks the County should do a referendum and let the constituents vote, it would be a good way to see what the citizens want. Peterson pointed out that the Smoke Free Act will apply to cannabis. She noted that law enforcement and expunging records were going to be difficult. She concluded by posing questions about dealing with craft growers, revisiting the camping ordinance, and how this might affect federal funding. Peterson suggested the Board start a cannabis subcommittee to look into how the new law will affect the county.
